When my friends fractured, when my friends mourned, when my friends faded, I wrote them a poem – specific to them, and yet, in retrospect, specific to anyone who loved and lost, tried and burned, held and dropped. This collection grew from all the ways in which I ached to comfort and reassure them as our early twenties rose and set into our late twenties. Written across a decade and utilizing the poems and film photography that pushed us through it, this collection contours the narrative of growing up when you aren’t yet ready to and the tumultuous relationship with time that results. But words can only be as specific as the human experience is specific. People belong as much to me as they do to you. My friends are yours. My family is yours. And what haunts them, is what haunts you, too.
